Westward Bound Day 25, From Page to the Huston's Lodge at Munds Park, AZ, May 28, 2013

After two very intense days of sightseeing, it was time to pull up stakes and head down to Munds Park, AZ, to visit with our dear friends, Jack and Shirlee Huston. Our only regret was that we did not allow time to explore the Glen Canyon Dam and the other sites right here at Page. As you can see in the picture below, we didn't actually have to travel far from our campsite to see that the entire city is just chiseled into the rocky hills.

So long to Page, AZ.
As we traveled south, we were continually amazed how many wondrous sites there are all along the way.

We've arrived!
Richard neatly tucked our camper in next to their house in the mountains of Munds Park. He and Jack got us hooked up to water and electric in no time. The weather was beautiful, if a tad windy and was quite comfortable during the day (70's and low 80's) but man when the sun went down, the temperature would plummet right down to the 30's. It is hard to imagine that just about 1 1/2 hours south of here is hot old Phoenix that is already cracking 100-110 degrees during the day and 70's-80's at night.
Shirlee has turned into quite the farmer and has been raising veggies from seed  as well as purchasing small plants. While it dropped below freezing our first night there, the nights are getting warmer and she and Jack are beginning to transplant into larger beds. The weather was beautiful, if a tad windy and was quite comfortable during the day (70's and low 80's) but man when the sun went down, the temperature would plummet right down to the 30's. It is hard to imagine that just about 1 1/2 hours south of here is hot old Phoenix. Yet, here they are having to cover those three beds of plants every night to keep them from freezing.

After a great supper and a few hours of catching up on all that has transpired in the couple of years since we have been together, we retired early so we would be ready for an adventurous trip to Sedona, AZ on the next day.

  1. You know you've got great friends when you can just relax and start enjoying new experiences, while having the fun of recalling the old.
