Westward Bound Day 24 Part 3 Bryce National Park, May 27 2013

As we left the Red Canyon, we were finally approaching Bryce Canyon. I must admit that my expectations for this park were low after all the grandeur we had seen earlier in the day. How could anything top what we had already seen? I guess you could say we were about "grandeured out".

How wrong could I be? Very, very wrong. As we went into Bryce Canyon, we realized that the best views of the day were here. The eye-popping beauty of this area erased all our fatigue and worry about the 3 hour ride back to our campsite.

First things first, we stopped by the Visitor's Center to get Richard's stamp and to get the lay of the land. We were delighted to find that this park also has a shuttle that takes you to all the high points (no pun intended).

As you might imagine, walking up and down these trails left us huffing and puffing and swigging lots of water. The high altitude was not always our friend.

The tenacity of this tree (and many others) to hold on and grow in this rugged land is just a-may-zing!

We finally saw the elusive chipmunk!

We

The deer were feeding along side the road as we finally headed out of the park.

Don't we live in the most diverse and beautiful country! We reluctantly left the park just before dusk to make the long, long three hour drive back to our campground in Page, AZ. The exhiliration of the day provided just the right amount of adrenalin to get us there safely!
